As an Italy elopement photographer and videographer duo, we had the honor of helping this adventurous couple plan their intimate day and capture every heartfelt moment amidst the rolling hills and historic charm of Tuscany.

A Love Story Rooted in Friendship

Madlen and Michael’s love story began long before their elopement in Tuscany. Childhood friends who grew up in the same neighborhood, they spent their early years riding BMX bikes and sharing laughs. As they grew older, their connection deepened, blossoming into a love that felt destined.

Italy has always held a special place in their hearts, making it the perfect setting for their wedding day. Instead of a traditional wedding, the couple opted for a private Italy elopement, keeping their plans secret until they surprised loved ones with stunning photos and a highlight video captured by us on the day of their ceremony.

This intimate Italy elopement took place in a beautiful village called Pienza, located in southern Tuscany. Madlen & Michael reached out just four months before their planned date, and we were more than happy to provide our experience and expertise as well as lead the research on locations, vendors, ceremony and dinner spots, lodging options, legal requirements (pro tip: if you don’t speak Italian, you’ll need a translator for your Italy elopement to be legally binding!), and even a vintage car rental. And Fun Fact: Since you need two witnesses in Italy to get legally married, we were not just their Photographer and Videographer for their Italian Elopement, but also their marriage witnesses! :)

Getting Ready & First Look

Their day began with getting ready separately and a heartfelt first look at their rustic Tuscan Airbnb, setting the tone for an intimate celebration. Michael even surprised Madlen with her initials in his suit.

M and M wanted to get legally married in the historic town of Pienza, at Vialle della Fortuna, the Street of Luck, overlooking Tuscany’s iconic rolling hills. We organized a translator and helped with the documents.

We exchanged over 40 emails with the couple’s restaurant of choice–Podere il Casale–to make sure that every last detail about their elopement day dinner reservation was squared away, from specific seating preferences to the menu and wine choices.

Madlen & Michael’s Italy elopement was intimate, beautiful, and memorable. From their first look at their quintessentially Tuscan-style Airbnb, to afternoon cappuccinos and cornetti, a Pizza picnic overlooking the Tuscan hills, to the tears they shared as they exchanged vows in front of a castle at sunset, and their private dinner at Podere il Casale, Madlen & Michael enjoyed every second of their day together. And, of course, we can’t forget the biggest surprise of the day–Madlen & Michael brought a custom-designed newspaper, with the headline announcing that they were expecting a baby! We loved capturing this extra-special moment that made an already gorgeous day even more memorable.
